Welcome to the Nick Van Patten for Senate website!

With the November 7th elections fast approaching, I wanted to make my website a resource that the voters of Iowa's 31st Senate District could utilize to find out about the important issues that will be facing voters this election and the direction I believe Iowa should move towards regarding them.

Please feel free to contact myself or campaign if you'd like to donate, volunteer or have a general comment about my campaign.  Click on the 'Contact Us' section of this website.

Thank you!

Nick Van Patten

• Iowa’s Property taxes are the 15th highest in the nation.  Van Patten will sponsor legislation that replaces the levy limits and value adjustments that result in higher and higher property taxes with a system that is equitable, transparent, and simple to understand.

 •  Iowa Seniors deserve a secure retirement free from excessive taxes and rising drug costs.  As your Senator, Van Patten will support legislation that helps seniors gain access to prescription drugs at discounted prices and fully eliminate the tax on social security and pensions.

 •  CIETC Never Again.  We all agree that CIETC was a travesty.  People with oversight didn’t do their job.  It can never happen again.  When elected, Van Patten will support legislation that makes it a criminal offense to misuse public funds.

 •  65% Proposal for Schools.  Nick will fight to enact legislation that requires education administrators allocate an additional 5.5 cents or more of each dollar directly to our classrooms, instead of the bureaucracy…an additional $199,796,300 for our students and teachers—without a tax increase!  Iowa should rank in the top 10% for direct classroom spending, not in the bottom 1/3rd (Iowa is 38th nationally).

“I am walking district 31 to meet as many of the residents as possible.  I want to hear from you about your neighborhood concerns.

I don’t plan on missing many houses, but if you feel that I have, please contact me.”

Vote Nick Van Patten November 7th!

Just in the Nick of Time
